WYSP is back

WYSP/Philadelphia has exploded its talk format in favor of rock, rebranding itself as
“94 WYSP The Rock Is Back."
At 5 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 13), during his afternoon show, Kidd Chris said “it’s an historic day here” and then added that the station would finally be “what it was supposed to be two years ago.” Then regular Kidd show guest Constantine made the official announcement, saying, “Finally, the rock has come back to Philadelphia!” This was followed by new imaging declaring the station’s new moniker, and then a montage of rock song snippets. Finally, Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” came blaring out of the speakers. It was followed by a pre-recorded jab at crosstown rocker WMMR playing Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” Thursday morning (Sept. 13) and then the station went straight into AC/DC’s “Back in Black.”

Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," Metallica's "Enter Sandman," Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Dani California," Beastie Boys' "Sabotage," Kid Rock's "So Hott" and Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train" were also in the first batch of tunes played on the new format.
